New Russian formations - Update 003
Building a post-mobilization Russian OOB. Information cutoff: April 28th - 2023
It's been a month since I published the last update, so it's time for a new one as there are some new entries and updates.
An important clarification: Mobilized personell serve in all types of Russian formations: regular ground forces, VDV, Naval Infantry and the new formations so these lists doesn't show the true scale of Russian mobilization.
Do keep in mind that these lists are highly likely incomplete, some entries could be wrong and this is very much work in progress. I haven't spent as much time digging as previously, so there's a good chance I've missed some reporting over past month.
On sources: I have not compiled individual references for each entry but the main sources for updated info are the CIT mobilization summaries, the CDS Daily Briefs, videos translated by @wartranslated in addition to own research.
Note on command relationships
There is a great deal of uncertainty around how the units on the “parent unit unknown or poss independent units” list fits into the organizational picture on the frontlines. If more information becomes available, I will include this in future updates.
The lists
New entries and other updates since last issue marked in yellow.
Note on 85th (Motorized Rifle?) Brigade / 2nd Army Corps
The 43rd and 1443rd may have been assigned to, amalgamated into or otherwise reorganized into the 85th Brigade / 2nd Army Corps (“LNR”)
Tank- and artillery units, independent battalions
No changes.
Note on the Independent/Separate Rifle Battalions
The independent/separate rifle battalions are battalions sent to reinforce Belgorod Oblast following the recent cross border spectacle, possibly with personnel drawn from existing rear services and support units.
The designation “Separate Rifle Battalion” is coined by me, not a confirmed official designation.
Divisions
No changes
Once again, this list is highly likely incomplete, but I do hope some of you finds this useful.
The next update will be published when I have enough new info/updates to warrant writing one.
Regards
The Lookout
Thanks again. I think the 103rd Motor Rifle Regiment you're referring to here, if you got the information from CDS, is actually part of the 150th Motor Rifle Division and should be around Donetsk / Marinka area. A regular unit rather than mobilized.
